The Kyokushin Union often receives questions as following :

Q1
Inform me about the conditions of being able to gain membership in the Kyokushin Union.

A1
All the persons who support the basic ideology of the Kyokushin Union, can become a member.

gThe Kyokushin Union is a formation of various Kyokushin Organizations, various Kyokushin dojos, that are all independent and autonomous.

Even if there are differences in principles amongst the Kyokushinkaikanfs groups, they should never act in selfinterest, but always in favor for gKyokushinh. Through this principle the Union will spread the Japanese Karate-Do and develop it in the right way, as it was inherited from the Founder Masutatsu Oyama. To obtain this goal, the legacy should be studied and verified.

The Union should also contribute to society by building up peoplefs character through training Kyokushin Karate.

Q2
Is your organization ready to undertake joint competitions ?

Basically the Kyokushin Union is a body that gathers independent dojos.

Q6
If I join the Kyokushin Union, what will happen to the grade that I have now ?

A6
You can use the grade that you are using now.

If you opt to become a Full Member, as you want to have your Dan-grade recognized by the Kyokushin Union, then the gTechnical Dan Promotion Instituteh will do an investigation.

If you opt to become an Associate Member, so you belong only to the gTournament Instituteh, then there is no concern in it.

Q7
Which Karate Syllabus are you using ?

A7
The Technical Dan Promotion Committee has drawn up a classification of main points and details.

Q8
As Kata are different in some organizations, are you going to do some standardizing ?

A8
As Kyokushin is having already such a long history, it is very hard to have a complete standardization, however it is necessary to see a clear descent from Kyokushin in Kihon and Kata.

However all members belonging to the Technical Dan Promotion Institute Committee share the same interpretation.

Q9
Please inform me about the costs, registrations, and is there an ongoing cost ?

A9
In order to affiliate your dojo with the Kyokushin Union, you have to pay once only the sum of US$100,- . There is no such thing as a yearly fee, or a membership fee.

But note, in order to participate in events such as tournaments or camps, you have to pay yourself for travel expenses etc.

Q10
How can I get an original belt and certificate from the Kyokushin Union ?

A10
From 5th grade Dan-holder and over, a recognized Shihan by the Kyokushin Union can hold Dan-promotions upto and including 3rd Dan.

For 4th Dan onwards a test has to be organized to be supervised by the Technical Dan Promotion Institute Committee. For these persons the Technical Dan Promotion Institute will issue certificates.

Can you let me have a document stating that I am the representative of the Kyokushin Union in my country ?

A11

However, depending on the regulations of the Kyokushin Union in your country, it has to be taken into account that there is a term of service fixed.
